Ciao!
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Lisa Franceschini, the creator of Rome Travelogues. As mentioned, not only am I a real human, but I was also born and raised in Rome.
In Rome, a spectacular and chaotic city, I lived for 30 years before moving to the countryside around Rome.
Besides visiting the places I describe on this blog, and collecting all the most detailed, reliable and up-to-date info about Rome and its surroundings, I am a full-time mom (and love it).
But I want to reveal a little more about myself.
I grew up in Monte Mario, a neighborhood in the northern suburbs of Rome, where my parents, both Romans, also grew up. Actually, my grandparents are also Romans, except for my beloved paternal grandfather, who was originally from a small village at the foot of Monte Amiata, a mountain a couple of hours’ drive north of Rome (I recommend you visit it if you like places off the beaten path).
I received my bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages from La Sapienza University in Rome.
Since childhood, I have always had a great desire to see the world. I have lived abroad working as an Italian and English teacher. Seeing the world (I visited 25 countries), made me love the place where I was born even more. But upon returning from my experiences abroad, I just didn’t feel like continuing to live in a metropolis of nearly 3 million people that Rome is.
So I moved to an area north of Rome that I consider a real paradise on earth, namely Lake Bracciano, part of a protected nature reserve.
I consider it a more appropriate place for a family with young children.
History, art, and archaeology aside, there are many fun things to do in Rome, in fact we go there as much as possible, especially for shopping.
It is hard to get bored in Rome. If you love nightlife (more or less eventful), you will find plenty to do in Rome.
It takes years to explore all the neighborhoods of Rome, not to mention the historic landmarks, hundreds of churches, and museums (there are more than 100…)
But back to me. In addition to exploring Rome and its surroundings, I love being a mom, but I’ve already mentioned that. Whenever possible, I help my partner with his business.
And then I like to read: novels, folktales and poetry, mostly. And I also like to write short stories and poems.
I love nature: contemplating landscapes, lying for hours on a beach in the sun doing nothing (this I will be able to do when my daughter goes to school), walking in the woods. In fact, I am on a mission to explore all the forests around Rome, a little thing.
Traveling, visiting places I have never seen, is the activity that recharges me the most. Right now I can’t do it often, so I like to devote myself to planning itineraries for those who, like you, want to get to know Rome.
On this page, I talk more about my passion of planning trips so that even those visiting Italy for the first time can feel as confident as if they were a local.
